Make your own lip color corrector

Sometimes we buy a lipstick that looks great in the tube but then looks blah when worn.  Based on the color wheel, certain colors can counter color imperfections by adding depth, lightening/darkening or adding a new dimension to the color.  Just like color correcting concealers and foundation primers, a color correcting base for lipstick can translate your blah lippie to a smash hit color.  Here's a short v-tutorial on how to create your own lip color corrector.  I've chosen a blue as a color corrector as it can add radiance to color, reduce minor imperfections that a lip color may enhance, and help teeth appear whiter.  Note, err on the side being light handed with your tinting color.

To use your lip color corrector, apply before lipstick/gloss.  Make sure you allow 2-3 minutes for the balm to sink in then blot off excess product.  Apply lip product as usual.  The correction will be very subtle.  For a more intense/dramatic effect, adjust the amount of shadow you mix into the balm.

Yep, I haven't had any issues. Most of it is blotted off anyway so you're left with a very subtle correcting color. I guess it's as safe as concealer or foundation on your lips.
